Venerated as the protector of Constantinople, the Virgin Mary is invoked as the defense of the imperial city and the refuge of the faithful. Saint Cunegonde
Empress of the Holy Roman Empire, Kunigunde lived with her husband Henry II in a marriage consecrated to God and vowed chastity. A founder of cathedrals and monasteries, she exercised power with justice and profound charity. After her husband's death, she retired to a monastery, living in poverty and humility until the end.

Founder of the Daughters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Saint Teresa Verzeri dedicated her life to the education of disadvantaged young women.
