OPERA M: An international dimension

Le works of mercy, the beating heart of Christian tradition, is today finding new forms of expression and diffusion. It is in this context that OPERA M, a project that interprets the contemporary missione of charity, proposing a true “re-Evolution” in the way of living and transmitting mercy.

After significant experiences gained in Africa and Europe, the journey continues on an international scale. From April 8thIn fact, the diocese of Ambatondrazaka, in Madagascar, will host the second FORUM dedicated to works of mercy and catechists.

OPERA M and the re-evolution of the works of mercy

The concept of “re-Evolution” represents the heart of OPERA MIt is not simply a question of re-proposing the works of mercy as they have been handed down, but of reinterpret them in light of the needs of the contemporary world.

The spiritual and corporal works of mercy are thus interpreted as living instruments, capable of speaking to people today. Not just gestures to be remembered, but experiences to be embodied in daily life: from listening to the most vulnerable to sharing their needs, to building authentic relationships.

In this perspective, OPERA M, is configured as an educational and cultural path that combines reflection, spirituality and action.

The Forum on 8 April in Ambatondrazaka

The April 8th Forum represents a pivotal moment in this journey. Following the resounding success of the first meeting, which saw the participation of hundreds of pastoral workers, the new edition is preparing to welcome over 400 catechists coming from all over the diocese.

The initiative was strongly desired and organized by the vBishop Herivonjilalaina Orthasie Marcellin, Together with Sister Florence, with the aim of offering concrete tools for training and missione.

This is not just an event, but an experience of a living Church, which invests in the training of its members to make Christian witness more effective in the local area.

The role of catechists: protagonists of the missione

The catechists will be the true protagonists of the FORUM. They have a fundamental task: become bearers and witnesses of the works of mercy within local communities.

The decision to involve such a significant number of participants is not accidental. It reflects the desire to create a widespread network of trained individuals capable of spreading and embodying the values of mercy in diverse life contexts.

In this sense, the Forum is not limited to the event itself, but extends into the future, through the concrete commitment of the catechists who, once they return to their communities, will be called upon to put what they have learned into practice.

An Outgoing Church: Between Formation and Witness

The experience of the Ambatondrazaka forum fits fully into the vision of an outgoing Church, capable of meeting people and responding to the real needs of the territory.

The works of mercy become like this a privileged key to reading and interpreting reality: not only as a response to situations of material need, but also as attention to the spiritual and relational dimension.

In a context like Madagascar, marked by significant social and economic challenges, this approach takes on even greater significance. Mercy translates into concrete gestures of solidarity, but also into programs of support, education, and human growth.

Continuity and future prospects

The April 8th Forum represents an important, but not conclusive, step. It is part of a broader journey aimed at strengthening a culture of mercy capable of transcending geographical and cultural boundaries.

OPERA M, with its proposal of “re-Evolution”, positions itself as bridge between different experiences, uniting local realities and the global dimension. The goal is to create a common language, capable of making the works of mercy understandable and practicable in every context.

Looking to the future, the challenge will be to keep this dynamic alive, continuing to train, involve and support communities that are increasingly aware of their role thanks to the support of the Movement spazio + spadoni.

In this journey, the catechists of Ambatondrazaka represent a concrete sign of hope: men and women ready to become instruments of mercy, bringing into daily life that "re-Evolution" that transforms faith into lived life.
