Seed of Mercy
My hands suffer with joy almost a light song of the Wood, and mercy has open arms.
TODAY'S SAINT
Saint Lidwina
Every day the Church celebrates the journey of men and women who have been able to make the mercy of God through concrete gestures of love and service.
Saint Liduina, along with the other saints remembered today, Tuesday, April 14, shows us that holiness comes from small things lived with a big heart. Meditating on the saint of the day helps us recognize that mercy is the path that transforms everyday life into a gift, and invites us to follow her example in our own time.
TODAY'S GOSPEL
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 3,7-15
At that time, Jesus said to Nicodemus: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."
Nicodemus answered him, “How can these things be?” Jesus answered him, “Are you a teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things?
Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak what we know and testify to what we have seen, but you do not receive our testimony.
If I told you about things on earth and you don't believe, how will you believe if I talk to you about things from heaven?
No one has ever ascended to heaven, except the one who came down from heaven, the Son of man.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Comments on today's Gospel
Commentary on the Gospel by Father Giordano Favillini
So must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.
Eternal life is not given to us automatically, but requires Faith, which is the means that introduces us to the reality of God, to His life given to us which is eternal.
