Zambia | A Chicken Coop Against Hunger

From Cuore Amico, the story of a dream that, becoming a project, aims to feed the hungry
In the Zimba district of southern Zambia, severe drought and lack of rain, combined with severe economic insecurity, they make people's lives very difficult and it is not uncommon for famines to occur in this region with profound food crises, accompanied by cholera epidemics.
In the parish of St. Michael the Archangel, Father Patrick Kitoko is involved in various activities to try to alleviate this chronic condition:
"I try to help those most vulnerable to hunger, like widows with children. Some of them, no longer knowing how to survive, have started producing charcoal, but they've worsened the ecological situation in the area by cutting down many trees, including fruit trees. I convinced them to stop producing charcoal and instead start a chicken coop to provide meat and eggs."
And continuing: «They can start using an existing farm tool shed in the parish as a chicken coop, but they need training and help to purchase chicks and feed».
The father is unable to find all the resources to support the widows in this activity and, for this reason, he asks for the support of Cuore Amico:
"Financial assistance is important to us, to give these women the opportunity to escape hunger and become economically self-sufficient. The Zimba district will also benefit, as it currently produces neither chickens nor eggs."
