On the Sunday in which the Gospel presents the virgins anxiously awaiting the bridegroom coming for the wedding, the liturgy has us pray with Psalm 62, a Psalm attributed to King David when he dwelt in the wilderness of Judah during the rebellion of his son Absalom (2 Sam 15:23-30). An ardent desire and thirst for God impels the psalmist in the search for his Lord, just as parched land seeks water (vv. 2-4).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. God is the supreme good: in him alone, as at a sumptuous banquet, are we satisfied, and in praising him we exult with joy. Even during the night watches we remember that the Lord is always our help, and therefore, even in difficulty and danger, we abandon ourselves to him in the shadow of his wings (vv. 5-8).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Psalm 62 is the most traditional and fundamental morning Psalm. It exhorts us to a continuous thirst for God, and to a continuous search for him.
