Seed of Mercy
Love of the Father, Jesus, I offer you in the Eucharist, beloved of mercy, Love that gathers in itself the love of all men, love of sufferings and expectations.
TODAY'S SAINT
Saint Cyriacus of Jerusalem
Every day the Church celebrates the journey of men and women who have been able to make the mercy of God through concrete gestures of love and service.
Saint Cyriacus of Jerusalem, along with the other saints remembered today, Monday, May 4th, shows us that holiness comes from small things lived with a big heart. Meditating on the saint of the day helps us recognize that mercy is the path that transforms everyday life into a gift, and invites us to follow his example in our own time.
TODAY'S GOSPEL
From the Gospel according to John
Jn 14,21-26
At that time, Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me.
He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him."
Judas, not Iscariot, said to him, “Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?”
Jesus answered him: «If anyone loves me, he will keep my word and my Father will love him and we will come to him and take up residence with him.
He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.
I have told you these things while I am still with you.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."
Comments on today's Gospel
Commentary on the Gospel by Father Giordano Favillini
Jesus said: “Whoever receives my commandments and observes them is the one who loves me.”
Love is not just a feeling detached from reality, but it is choosing based on the one you love, in this case it is living according to the Gospel, that is how you love Jesus.
