How it works HIC SUM

Spazio Spadoni gets in touch with a Association and with one Congregation religious missionfeminine air. A nun from the South of the world comes to Italy to complete a training and experience period lasting from 3/6 to 12 months with the Association; her presence also becomes a "sign" among the volunteers and the community.

The nun who performs the training in Italy she is supported by a tutor (identified within the Association) and a detailed support plan is planned for her by the staff of Spazio Spadoni, structured in such a way as to make this path a real accompaniment both in the learning phases with respect to technical and organizational dynamics and in the management of human relationships.

Once the experience in Italy is over, the nun returns to the land of missionand lays the foundations for the founding of a new local Association, made up of volunteers who carry out their work with the charisma of generosity, brotherhood and love, at least one of the 14 Works of Mercy. From the very beginning, a continuous exchange of volunteers between Italy and the place of Missionand vice versa. Between the Italian Association and the one founded in missionand a real twinning is born from
to care for and grow.

In the land of missionIt is hoped that a social enterprise called "Il Pane di Misericordia" will also be established. This enterprise will produce food for the local community (bread, rice, chocolate, honey, etc.) or will develop or strengthen agricultural or livestock farming activities. The resulting goods will be partly sold to generate income for self-sufficiency and social advancement, and partly donated to the poor, according to the charisma of each congregation. This is a concrete sign of the Work of Mercy, "Feeding the Hungry."

The project for the first five years is followed and supported entirely by Spazio Spadoni, which in addition to taking care of the economic part, promotes and coordinates the operational phases; after this time, Spazio Spadoni continues to follow and assist the project but the Italian Association will play a leading role in supporting and developing the missionand twinned in the South of the World.

SisterChain HIC SUM – Circular Financing for Communities of Nuns

Objective of the Model

The specialised farming model SisterChain It is designed to create a cycle of financial support between small businesses run by communities of nuns. The cycle starts with a donor funder (spazio + spadoni) which provides the initial funding for the start-up of the first business. With the profits generated, the business supports another community of nuns, starting a virtuous cycle that generates economic development and sustainability among the communities.

Structure of the Financing Model

  1. Phase 1 – Donor Funder
The cycle begins with donor funder ( spazio + spadoni) which provides the initial funds to start Business A. spazio + spadoni is committed to supporting the creation of a social enterprise run by nuns that will not only generate income for the community but will subsequently support other religious enterprises.
Initial Financing Example: €100 amount sufficient to cover the start-up costs and the initial operational phases of Company A.
  2. Phase 2 – Business A. Profit Generation
Enterprise A is a small business run by a community of nuns. Its activities may involve artisanal production, agriculture, or social services. The primary goal is to generate sustainable profits for the community, covering both operating costs and community needs, and allocating part of the profits to fund another religious enterprise within the same congregation.
    Example of Company A
    • Industry: Bakery or honey production
    • Annual profit: €55
    • Percentage of profits allocated to financing Company B: 30% (€16.5)
  3. Phase 3 – Business B. Financing and Growth
Company B is a second business run by another community of nuns. The profits generated by Company A are used to finance Company B. Company B, in turn, begins to grow thanks to the capital received and undertakes to return part of the profits to start another religious business of the same congregation (Company C).
    Example of Company B
    • Sector: Tailoring or candle making workshop
    • Community B or congregation capital €50
    • Initial capital received: €16.5
    • Capital received for 2 further loans in 2 years from company A for a total of €49.5
    • Annual profits in subsequent years: €25
    • Percentage of profits allocated to financing Company C: 30%.
  4. Phase 4 – Company C. New Financing
Enterprise C is the third enterprise in the cycle. Once Enterprise B is established and generating profits, a portion of these funds is reinvested in Enterprise C, thus continuing the cycle of support between religious communities.
    Example of Company C
    • Sector: Organic farming or natural beauty products
    • Community capital C or congregation
    • Capital received from community B: €49.5
    • Payback and Reinvestment: Company C commits to allocate a portion of its future profits to fund a new religious venture
  5. Phase 5 – Development and Support Cycle
Once the cycle is underway, each business generates profits, some of which are reinvested to fund new initiatives. The cycle continues to expand, creating a network of sustainable businesses that strengthens the economic self-sufficiency of the nuns' communities.

Role of the Donor Funder

spazio + spadoni The initial donor plays a key role in creating the cycle, providing the necessary capital to kick-start the process. Once launched, the SisterChain model becomes self-sustaining, as the funded businesses continue to generate and reinvest profits in new ventures. The donor can continue to support the cycle with new donations or contribute only initially, allowing the cycle to continue autonomously.

Advantages of the Model

  • Economic sustainability
The model creates an ecosystem of self-sustaining businesses that not only generate profits for the community but reinvest these profits to support other businesses.
  • Social and Community Impact
Each business not only contributes to the local economy, but also offers goods or services that meet community needs, such as food or clothing.
  • Multiplier Effect
A single initial donation can have a lasting impact, creating a chain of businesses that continue to grow and fund other communities.
  • Autonomy of the Communities
The nuns become financially independent and able to self-support their communities as well as missionsocial and religious ones, without depending exclusively on continuous donations or on the parent company.
  • Model to share with the world

Why 72 projects HIC SUM? 72 DISCIPLES (Lk 10, 1)

When reading the Bible, one must remember that all numbers in it do not have an objective value, but rather a symbolic one.

The Book of Genesis, in chapter ten (Gen 10,1:32-XNUMX), presents the “Table of Nations”, that is, the list of the Peoples created by God.

All the founders of the nations are 70 in number, a perfect multiple of 7, sacred par excellence (7×10). There are fourteen descendants from Japheth, thirty-one from Ham, twenty-five from Shem. Shem, Ham and Japheth are the three sons of Noah.

Jewish exegesis developed a rich theology on this number 70. The Rabbis affirm that, because of this division, God created the Angels of the Nations in the number of 69, reserving Israel for himself (69 + 1 = 70); to respect this number, on Sinai God promulgated the Law in 70 languages, and commanded that on the Feast of Tabernacles the Priests offer 70 burnt offerings (2 Chr 29,32:70). By analogy, the descendants of Jacob, ancestor of the holy people, would have been 46,27 (Gn 1,15:70; Ex 24,1:70). Just as there are 1,7 Elders in the desert (Exodus 70:8,30), 70 kings defeated by Adon-Bezek (Judges 2:10,1), 70 sons of Gideon (Judges 11,16:70), 70 sons of Ahab (46 Kings XNUMX:XNUMX), XNUMX Elders of the house of Israel (Num XNUMX:XNUMX). The number XNUMX is therefore also the symbolic number of an ideal family, both on earth and in heaven. And this also in non-Jewish traditions: in the Pantheon of Ugarit, capital of the ancient Kingdom in Syria, XNUMX sons of the divinities 'El and Aserah are listed (II, AB VI, XNUMX).

“This system, which to us Westerners would seem like a game, revealed to Semitic readers the harmonies of number and unity of composition” (PE Testa).
The Greek translation of the Bible, the so-called LXX, speaks instead of the creation of 72 peoples.

According to tradition, the Egyptian ruler Ptolemy II Philadelphus, who reigned from 285 to 246 BC, commissionI personally sent to the religious authorities of the Temple of Jerusalem a Greek translation of the Pentateuch for the newly founded library of Alexandria, also because, after the Babylonian exile, the Jews no longer understood Hebrew and Greek was instead the international language, a bit like English today. The high priest Eleazar appointed 72 Jewish scholars, six scribes for each of the twelve tribes of Israel (in some later narratives simplified to 70), who went to Alexandria and were
welcomed with great warmth by the sovereign. Having settled on the island of Faro, they completed the translation in 72 days thanks to their joint work.

In any case, "it was the Greek Bible that Luke had available when he wrote his Gospel" (O. Da Spinetoli): that Bible which states that the peoples created by God are 72. Luke then writes: "After these things the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them ahead of him, two by two, to every town and place where he himself was about to go" (Lk 10,1:XNUMX).

In reality, the Elders of Israel upon whom the Spirit of God descends are also 72, because to the 70 Elders gathered in the Tent of Meeting must be added Eldad and Medad, who had remained in the camp (Nm 11,25-26), as the Zohar, the most important book of the Kabbalistic tradition, will always underline.

Note that the number 72 also corresponds to the name of God (IHWH) according to gematria, the Jewish theological science that gives a numerical value to each letter (as also happens in the Latin world, where numbers were represented by letters): the sum of the values of the individual letters gives a number which in turn defines a person or a thing.

So the number 72 is at the same time a symbol of universality and recalls the holy Name of God himself..

The disciples are therefore sent, according to Jewish symbolism, to evangelize all people. “Beyond the question of whether they are 70 or 72, the meaning is clear: the Word given to Israel must reach all the children of God, all the peoples. And 72 (the peoples) plus 12 (the tribes of Israel) make 84, that is 7 times 12: the totality (7) of men is the people of God (12)!” (S. Fausti).

Even a simple numerical value, for those who study the Holy Scriptures with love and passion, can reveal wonderful revelations…
