Like many other congregations, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters of Morogoro struggle every day to remain sustainable and support themselves. The sisters combine a life of prayer with work, particularly farming the land to produce enough food for the entire community. The social enterprise supported by spazio + spadoni is a small poultry farm that will produce meat and eggs for consumption and sale.

Sister Filipina arrives in Italy on 27 October 2021 and is welcomed by the Misericordia di Acireale. Thanks to her previous experiences in Italy, she has a good command of the language, which allows her to become immediately involved in the association’s activities. Hosted by the Salesian Sisters of Mary Help of Christians, she also integrates well into the community. On 27 April 2022, she returns to Morogoro, Tanzania, a city known for its resistance during the period of slavery. A large market where enslaved people were sold once stood there. Things changed only with the arrival of the missionary fathers, who began paying ransoms to free those who had been sold into slavery and restore their dignity.
