After completing their training in Italy, the sisters are now in Mexico. They initially stayed in Mexico City for a few weeks before moving to Puebla City. There they opened a religious-goods shop fully supported by spazio + spadoni, which selected local technicians to assist the sisters with this important project. This is their social enterprise. They had initially planned to open a tortilla shop, but the idea was abandoned because of the excessive bureaucracy involved.
Sister Perla and Sister Angelica arrive in Italy on 28 April 2022. They receive an exceptionally warm welcome from the Misericordia di Rosolini, the result of lengthy preparation within a program designed by the volunteers themselves and entitled “Eccoci Messico.” The sisters stay in Italy for almost a year, leaving on 25 March 2023. Their months in Rosolini give them the opportunity to build strong, lasting bonds and relationships with the volunteers and the local community, receive extensive training, and learn not only about Sicily but also about other parts of Italy and the country’s traditions and customs.
