It was not easy to determine which social enterprise project should be developed once Sister Latha returned to India. Farming was considered first, followed by the production of sanitary pads, and finally a tailoring workshop for young women was launched. Sister Latha is dedicated to teaching and supporting them. In addition to this social enterprise, spazio + spadoni is also supporting the construction of a home for older people in India, which will be managed by the sisters of the Congregation.
Known to everyone as Sister Latha, she belongs to the Indian Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Thomas and arrived in Italy on 23 February 2022. She was welcomed not only by the Governor of Misericordia Misericordia di Anghiari, where she would complete her training, but also by her fellow sisters, who had established a community in Anghiari some time earlier at the Governor’s strong request. Settling in was not difficult, and the language barrier was overcome with the help of the sisters already there.
In addition to the basics of first aid, her practical training focused on learning cutting and sewing techniques.
On 23 August 2022, Sister Latha returned to India, specifically to Fatima Nagar Trichy, a small village in the Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu.
