The Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters of Morogoro Mgolole is a Diocesan Congregation founded in 1937 by the Most Rev. Bishop Bernard Hilhorst of the Holy Spirit Congregation of Holland. The first Mother General was Sister Amabilis.

The Congregation has 452 sisters distributed among 56 communities in the Tanzanian dioceses of Morogoro, Dar es Salam, Mahenge, Arusha and Lindi. There is also one community in Italy.
The Mother House is located in Mgolole/Morogoro Municipal.
The Congregation’s logo consists of a heart, a Bible and a rosary. The heart represents that of Maria, their patroness and model of religious life; an example to follow with love and charity. The Word of God and the Eucharist are an eternal source of daily strength for their mission.
Charism
The Charism of the Congregation is “Ora et Labora”. In addition to carrying out their apostolate, the sisters serve in the fields of education, healthcare and social services. They have an orphanage and a care centre for the elderly. In addition, in the villages of Mgolole and Ilonga, they have a vocational training centre for boys and girls where they teach sewing, carpentry and cooking.
