Upon returning to Kisangani, Sister Annie immediately launched the small social enterprise devoted to fish farming, supported by spazio + spadoni. The property where the fish farm is located is about 7 km from the community where Annie lives; therefore, in addition to installing a fence to prevent possible theft, it was also necessary to employ a caretaker.

Sister Annie carried out her training in Italy at Misericordia di Assisi, together with a sister from another Congregation, Sister Adele, who arrived shortly before her. On 22 August 2022 she returned to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, precisely to the city of Kisangani, the capital of the province of Tshopo where she is developing the social enterprise.

Kisangani, with a population of over 1,500,000, is located 2,000 km from the Congo River; it is the country’s main inland port after Kinshasa, an important commercial distribution hub for river and land transport, and a major center for trade and distribution in the northeastern part of the country. It is home to textile, pharmaceutical, and food industries.
