Father Stefano Camerlengo

A Consolata Missionary, he is originally from Morrovalle (Macerata). Ordained a priest in 1984 in Haut-Uele, Democratic Republic of the Congo, then known as Zaire, where he had gone to exercise his ministry as a deacon, he continued his service there by working in the missions, formation and regional leadership. He also guided the community during the difficult transition from Mobutu’s rule to the new republican government. For twelve years, from 2011 to 2023, he served as Superior General of the Consolata Missionaries. Since 2024, he has been in Ivory Coast, in the Diocese of Dianra. “After 40 years of priesthood, you ask yourself what else you can do as a missionary,” he reflected. For him, the most logical answer was to leave once again.
