The journey through four countries of Daniele Ventola, a Neapolitan anthropologist and educator, teacher at Gonzaga Campus in Palermo, for the “Call of Peace” project
Peace, at the center of everything, guided by the awareness that prompts reflection on what, concretely, can be done in this historic time. With this spirit, Daniele Ventola (a Neapolitan anthropologist and educator) began his journey, setting out in July and August from Assisi – in the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis – to reach Brussels. The real goal, however, was another: to carry forward the “Call of Peace” project which, in addition to the messages in the three scrolls, continues to be enriched with video testimonies. Daniele, crossing Italy, Switzerland, France, and Belgium, chose not to make an individual trip, but rather a journey rich in human encounters and relationships dedicated to sharing thoughts and reflections on peace.
“In a world that seems to have lost all orientation and direction,” Daniele Ventola recounts, “I sought to unite all those people who wanted to reflect on the possibility of an alternative future to the individualism and consumerism that this society presents to us every day. This is the primary mission of Call of Peace. Indeed, beyond Brussels, the real objective was and remains meeting realities and people who do not wish to remain indifferent to the emptiness this kind of society is accustoming us to.”
