At the Opera Cardinal Ferrari in Milan, solidarity turns summer isolation into a precious moment of encounter. On Saturday, August 15th, over two hundred homeless people and individuals facing severe vulnerability will gather around a carefully set table for the traditional Grand Ferragosto Lunch.
Welcoming them will be twenty volunteers who chose to give their time, alongside President Luciano Gualzetti and the Archbishop of Milan, Monsignor Mario Delpini. Supported by long-standing partners like Lidl Italia, the day begins with Holy Mass before continuing with shared food and listening.
Works of mercy facing the heat emergency
Summer for people living on the streets is not a time of ease, but of daily struggles. The climate emergency and extreme temperatures make summer months particularly harsh for vulnerable individuals, who lack shelter from scorching heat or immediate access to water and medical care.
