Upon returning to the community of Ruhunda, Rwanda, Sister Luminatha quickly developed a very small social enterprise producing bread and other foods, thanks to financial support from spazio + spadoni. It is a kind of “shop” that sells bread as well as small confectionery products and more. In 2024, spazio + spadoni provided funding for the purchase of a cow, which would make the enterprise even more self-sufficient and productive. Sister Luminatha also brought together around thirty volunteers, with whom she carries out apostolate and Works of Mercy each week among the village’s poor and needy. Sister Luminatha belongs to Congregazione Suore Dimora della Carità, which also has a small community of two sisters in Italy, in the Diocese of Lucca. Upon her arrival in Italy on 6 June 2022, she was accompanied to the Convento di San Cerbone, where training was under way for sisters involved in HIC SUM projects. One of her fellow sisters, Sister Agnes, was also taking part while carrying out her project at Misericordia di Stiava. Sister Luminatha completed her six months of training at Misericordia di Uzzano and was hosted by Congregazione Missionaria Sorelle di Santa Gemma. During her months in Italy, she also had the opportunity to participate in the training on the Works of Mercy organised by Spazio Spadoni in Loppiano.
